The majority of the U.S. population owns shoes that don’t have the steel toe option.
But that’s about to change.
In a study released this week, a research team from the University of Wisconsin-Madison found that the popularity of the steel toes shoe horn has spiked significantly.
The study’s findings were reported in the journal PLOS ONE.
The researchers analyzed data from more than 14,000 people in the United States and found that steel toe users in the U:•are most likely to buy steel toes (65.7%);•are likely to use the horn as a primary way to get attention (72.6%);•tend to wear a different style of shoes (54.1%);•want to show off their shoes more (59.3%);•have more than one style (59%);•used a different shoe horn style than the one used in the survey (58.1%).
In other words, the Steel Tails horn may be the next big thing in shoe horn usage.
The authors say that their findings suggest that people are looking for a way to show their individuality in the workplace.
It could be a way for them to express themselves on social media, or a way of showing off their own style.
It’s not just the steel tingles, either.
They found that people who also owned shoes with the steel heel option were more likely to wear them as a main way to be recognized.
